Curiosity and the desire to learn are two traits I would never wish to part with. Experiences become memories that no one can take away from you. Being a traveler and an educator I am increasingly aware of how each moment and journey becomes a part of who we are. As an artist I also understand the importance of finding that which will stimulate, engage and inspire you.
Drama
I completed my training in IB MYP Drama Category 1 &2 and IB DP Theatre Arts Category 1.

I was involved in many productions during my Secondary and University years. Not only performing in them, but also being involved in planning, design and directing.
During university I joined the Drama Club from 2000-2002. We were very fortunate to be taught by well-known South African industry professionals, Lizz Meiring and Heidi Mollentze. As mentors, they were particularly good at getting us involved in decisions and planning as well.
I was also fortunate to attend a workshop by Jonothan Neelands workshop while teaching in Hong Kong.

Art
Bill Martin's guide to drawing/ painting.
This is a great source which gives you guides on foundational skills needed to improve your technique.
Ron the 'how to' guy.
It was useful for me to watch some of his tutorials on recognizing colors and blending them to suit your subject.
Mastering the Art of Painting
I highly recommend this book. It gives a breakdown and step by step instructions of each type of media used when painting. Great images are used as examples and they show the process of producing a final product with understandable sequences.
I attended some water color classes in Hong Kong with a local Art studio and I attended a term of sketching classes at the Hong Kong Academy of Fine Arts in 2014.

The Artist Network
This is one of my greatest resources. They have online workshops and magazines that are very instructional and useful. I am subscribed to their daily newsletters, which feature great artists and often practical advice or ideas. I also receive a monthly magazine filled with various mediums, techniques, artist tools and more.

Film
Through Renaissance College I attended professional development workshops with our campus film technician. He focused on equipment, story telling and sequencing scenes and other basic film knowledge. I also attended a foundational course in the use of Final Cut Pro.
One of the books we studied during our course was The 5 C's of Cinematography. It provides you a good foundational knowledge of cinematic technique.

Music
![Picture](/uploads/4/9/1/1/49115679/1277901.jpg?157)
I have been involved in singing for a large part of my life. During Primary and Secondary school I often sang in choirs and had solo performances in musical productions. I was also a singer in our local church band while still living in South Africa.
I was fortunate to take extra lessons at DFP Productions Music Academy in Johannesburg in 2006. We worked on different kinds of music and genres each week and had end-of-term performances to showcase our talents.
I now only reserve my musical talents for karaoke night!

Dance
![Picture](/uploads/4/9/1/1/49115679/5968602.jpg?250)
I have always loved to dance and in my various travels I have often joined local classes. They have mostly included jazz, modern dance and hip-hop. While living in New Zealand I was a member of a hip-hop/ jazz dance class. We had end-of-year performances and the challenges of physical ability, rhythm and technique were exciting indeed.
I am by no means a professional, but I sure do enjoy it. In 2014 I was able to use some of my talents to choreograph the dances in our Primary School Production of Roald Dhal's Snow White.
